Forum Update Week 48
Today I HAve made some cHAnges to the forum. These cHAnges are for the continuing enjoyment of the user experience, the security and privacy of the forum, and the guests tHAt all so often frequent the forum.
Living Avatars
First off, the addition of Living Avatars to the options of avatars is an exciting one. Users post to get points, then redeem those points to create their own unique avatar!
Living_User is our live demonstration, and she will be posting shortly.
teamWOMBAT Wiki
I HAve installed a wiki system into
teamWOMBAT and it looks like it will be a welcome addition to the forums. You can visit it by clicking the "wiki" tab on the toolbar.
Registration Lock Down
Secondly, I HAve made it so new users must activate their account through a valid email. This is because security could be threatened by automated spam bots, and I don't want to risk tHAt.
Guest Board
Next, I created a guest board tHAt allows guests to post. This allows the guests to participate, although minimalistic in nature, and perHAps say the one thing they HAve to say. All posts by guests automatically alert
myself,
ForumNinja,
HAzy_cloud and any
Global Moderator. This is for spam filtering, and abuse of TOS and rule breaking.
Demonstration User
Lastly, as previously mentioned, a demo user HAs been created. Her name is
Living_User and she is available to demonstrate forum techniques, avatar and signature techniques. Secretly, she also owns all in the arcade.
Most of this HAs been in an effort to get ready for going live in Q1 of 2008, where forum promotion will begin and clan recruitment will also commence. Currently the forum is live, but not being promoted (heavily). After Christmas, I will begin promotion and recruitment, and thus, I would like the forum to be ready and turn key for a user base.
